Petey has only known one owner in his 6 years. He found himself at the rescue when his owner passed away.
Petey is adjusting to his new circumstances and will require a patient and experienced owner. Petey is a sensitive guy and sometimes hides until he feels safe and secure. This guy opens right up with a gentle touch and some one-on-one time. He really likes to be pet, especially on the head. Not a big fan of being picked up.
Petey lived with two other cats - Maximus and Slim. It would be great for him to be adopted out with one of them to help him feel comfortable. His foster family thinks once he’s feeling safe and secure in a loving home setting, his adorable personality will shine.
Petey's foster family says once he gets familiar with you, he is eager to call you a new friend!
Petey is currently in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting him, please send a message here or email adopt@ahsem.org
Adoption fees are as follows: $155 for a single cat or kitten, $195 for a pair of cats or kittens. When adopting a cat from AHSEM the adoption includes spay or neuter surgery, age appropriate core vaccines, microchipping, combo tested (for FIV/FeLV), and basic wellness care including deworming and flea treatment. AHSEM treats every adoption as "foster to adopt" This means that the first two weeks in which you have the cat is the "foster period." We do our best to ensure the right match for all involved and want to give the cat(s) time to decompress and adapt to their new environment. However, we realize sometimes things don't work out as expected. Therefore, during that two-week period, if something doesn’t work out you can bring the cat back. We will always take our cats back even after the "foster to adopt" period. We would hate to see them end up at a kill shelter, abandoned, or any other unsafe situation.
