Despite his name, Maverick is a big boy who brings joy wherever he goes – he’s the life of the party! His first instinct is to greet everyone with a hug, flashing a wide grin and wagging his tail enthusiastically. Maverick is up for any adventure, whether it's a hike in the woods or snuggling on the couch. With his boundless energy, he needs a good outlet to stay happy and healthy. He's the perfect match for an independent, free-spirited individual looking for a fearless companion. Always adaptable and cheerful, Maverick is the friend who will lift your spirits with his infectious smile.

Interview

We process your application in the order received. We'll contact you through call or email.

3.
Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

Visit the facility via scheduled appt. and meet the the dog. If all seems like a good fit, the dog can go home on this day!

*You must put in an application!* This is important step. Fill one out at hlcr.org! Of course, you can ask us questions at any time via email or text.

The application will come back up again during the final meet n greet, since check out and microchips rely on the same system where the applications are put in.

More about this rescue

Highland Lakes Canine Rescue was founded in 1999 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization by a group of folks who wanted to rescue homeless dogs from the Central Texas region and care for their health, rehabilitation and then to ultimately find these dogs a forever home uniting them with a newly adopted family. Initially HLCR started out as a foster only organization but over the 17 years has grown into it's own location with a kennel facility, outdoor pens, walking trails and staff and resident caretaker. An active and passionate group of staff and volunteers works tirelessly supporting HLCR and its mission.
