Bandit is outgoing, looking for attention and ready to be head of his class. Bandit wants to make sure you see him and give him the most attention. He loves to play, wrestle, run and hide. He is not scared of ANYTHING! Brooms, people, vacuums, doesn’t matter. He is inquisitive and ready to take on any new adventure.

Bandit has been dewormed, microchipped, vaccinated, and tested for Feline Leukemia (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV).

Since he is not yet neutered, Bandit is not available for adoption outside of the counties contiguous to Bedford County.

Now, the first step is to complete an adoption application on our website at http://bhsva.org/adoptions-home.htm. This is not a commitment to adopt. It is simply the first step in the process.

We will review your application for preliminary approval before asking the foster parent to contact you to set up a time to meet the pet. You may also have concerns about how the animal will fit your home environment. When the foster parent contacts you, you will be able to discuss your concerns with someone who has first-hand experience with the pet.

After you meet the animal, you and the foster parent can decide if this is definitely the forever pet for you.

Until we are able to build our No-Kill Shelter, our adoptable pets live in foster homes throughout Bedford County and surrounding areas. If you are interested in meeting a pet, please submit an adoption application or contact our main office.

More about this rescue

The Bedford Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1994 and dedicated to eliminating the overpopulation of cats and dogs in Bedford County, VA through education, spay/neuter programs, and companion animal adoptions. We are NOT the tax-funded Bedford County shelter on Falling Creek Road, although we do try to help the animals there whenever possible. Our adoptable pets live in volunteer foster homes where they receive the care and attention they deserve while awaiting a permanent home.

Our various programs for Bedford County and City of Bedford residents include::

•A low cost spay/neuter program for area pets
•The construction of a no kill animal shelter, The Vernon D Lybolt Adoption Center, at 829 Ole Turnpike Road in Bedford.
•Find homes for abandoned and homeless animals through our adoption and transport programs.
•Help pet owners with unexpected expenses involving their pets, through our Emergency Fund program.
•Provide humane traps and spay/neuter subsidies for feral cats through our Forgotten Felines program.
•Humane Education program for area Scout troops and schools.
