My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

YOUR LOYAL AND LOVING COMPANION
Meet Maddy, a captivating hound mix (possibly with a dash of Dachshund) estimated to be around three years old. Maddy's journey to finding her forever home has been a bit bumpy, but she's emerged as a resilient and eager-to-please companion. She initially struggled mightily with fear and anxiety, but through the HappyGentle Dog Training program, she's made incredible strides and is ready to blossom in a loving environment.

MADDY'S PERSONALITY: A HEARTWARMING BLEND
Maddy is a medium-sized dog with a gentle and playful spirit. She's incredibly affectionate and eager to please her humans. Her curious nature and alert demeanor make her a delightful companion for exploring new places and experiences. Maddy thrives on building a deep bond with her people, offering unwavering loyalty and companionship.

IDEAL HOME: A PATIENT AND UNDERSTANDING FAMILY
Maddy is seeking a loving home with an active individual or family who understands her unique needs and history. While she's made significant progress in overcoming her fears, she'll thrive in a home that can provide continued patience, understanding, and positive reinforcement. A family with older children would be ideal, as younger children might inadvertently trigger her anxieties. A calm and predictable environment with plenty of opportunities for exercise and mental stimulation would be perfect for her to continue blossoming into her best self.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS
* Fenced Yard: Due to her hound instincts, a securely fenced yard is essential to provide Maddy with a safe space to explore and play.
* No Young Children: While Maddy is gentle and affectionate, young children's unpredictable behavior might be overwhelming for her.
* Only Dog: Maddy would likely thrive as the only dog in the household, where she can receive undivided attention and avoid potential triggers for fear or reactivity.
* Continued Training: Ongoing positive reinforcement training will help Maddy continue to build confidence and solidify her newfound skills.

A HEARTWARMING STORY OF RESILIENCE
When Maddy first arrived at Mutts & Mayhem Emergency Search and Rescue, she was terrified and withdrawn. She was an elusive stray who had been shot.  Mutts & Mayhem Emergency Search and Rescue captured her, she cleared stray hold at the local shelter, we got her medical attention, and she made a full medical recovery.  Despite being adopted a couple of months later, her fear only intensified in that particular home environment.  Mutts & Mayhem rescued her a second time and realized that she needed emotional and psychological rehabilitation.  Mutts & Mayhem took her to the HappyGentle Dogs Place for specialized live in training. Through the dedication of their trainers and the power of Constructional Reinforcement Training, Maddy has blossomed into a loving, playful, and eager-to-learn companion.

MADDY'S PROMISE
If you're looking for a loyal and loving companion who will cherish your every adventure together, Maddy is ready to fill your life with joy and unwavering devotion. With the right guidance and continued support, Maddy's potential is limitless. She's eager to embark on a new chapter with a family who will see her for the incredible dog she is and help her continue to shine.

Prior to an adoption, all of our animals will have received a thorough Veterinary exam, received treatment needed for any illnesses or injuries they may have incurred prior to their Rescue, they have been spayed or neutered, and they have been vaccinated and have been given Microchip IDs!

Our Adoption Fees range depending on the animal. Careful consideration is taken when determining this fee. We consider the animals’ previous medical expenses, length of time in our care, adopt-ability factors, future needs, etc. Each animals adoption’ fee will be listed within his/her profile information.

We wish that we could simply give our animals to their new adoptive family at zero cost. However, Mutts & Mayhem is a non profit organization who relies solely on individual donations and adoption fees to care for all of our animals on a day to day basis. The cost associated with treating and caring for each animal far outweighs the adoption fee that you pay for that animal through your adoption. Please keep all of this in mind if it seems to you that the adoption fee listed may be too high for that animal.

To be considered for adoption you need to:

•Be at least 18 years old.
•Have knowledge and consent of all adults living in your household
•Have a valid government-issued photo ID
•Have landlords consent to bring an animal onto the property (if applicable)
•Possess zero criminal convictions for Animal Cruelty, Animal Abuse, Family/Domestic Violence or Felony Violent Crimes.
•Understand that Mutts & Mayhem reserves the right to refuse the adoption of any animal to any person.

Through the adoption process, we will ask you to complete an adoption application and we will process it as promptly as possible. For dog adoptions, we do require a home visit prior to the final approval of an adoption application. After your adoption application has been approved, we will complete an adoption agreement with you that is signed by all parties.

After your adoption, if "anything" happens where you can no longer keep or care for the pet that you adopted from us, we will happily accept that animal back into our Rescue, no questions asked.

We are happy to schedule a "Meet & Greet" and/or an Adoption for one or more of our animals by appointment. We hold public adoption events periodically where you may meet our animals on the spot.

More about this rescue

Mutts & Mayhem Emergency Search and Rescue (MMESAR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2013 by two active duty Paramedics. Our organization operates a specialized boots on the ground Team providing a coordinated effort in the response, search, rescue and capture phases for sick, injured, and elusive stray animals in Collin County.  We triage our cases based on their medical and trauma status and sick and injured stray cases are worked first considering the nature of their emergency and location. Cases outside of our service area are accepted on a case by case basis.

MMESAR does not currently have a brick and mortar shelter location open to the public. We receive no federal or state funding and we rely solely on donations from generous individuals, businesses, foundations, and grants to support our programs and services.
