My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sunny is a dream dog. Sweet, intelligent, loving, and fun. She’s small…about 35 lbs. Everyone who meets her adores her.

We are not sure of the breed, but she’s the size of a cattle dog with the tail of a husky....and we see golden retriever in her too. She is not aloof like a husky can be, she loves doting on her owner, and like a cattle dog, she always wants to sit right next to you. She's very sweet and easy.

Sunny is about 1 year old, very responsive when called. She has perfect recall at the dog park. She is playful and fun and she’s a great hiker and walker. She is picks up training commands quickly and she loves playing fetch, chewing on bones and playing with toys. She likes all dogs so a home with another dog to wrestle and play with are fine with her. She’s good with kids too.

At a petite 35lbs, Sunny is ready to explore the world by your side. She sleeps soundly in her crate throughout the night and likes to be in a room where she can see you. She's eager to please and sits calmly next to her foster mom while she works.

Sunny was abandoned and left alone to fend for herself. We fell in love with her and contacted a rescue to help us find her a home. Like most young dogs, Sunny needs training, exercise, and love to make her a great K9 citizen. If you are a hiker, she would be the best companion!

Sunny is spayed and up to date with vaccines, and flea treatments.

Sunny is in San Francisco.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We have an adoption contract that is very detailed, how many people in the home, children, yard, training, where will the dog stay, etc. We stay in contact with the new owner long after the adoption to make sure everything is going smoothly and to answer any questions or possible concerns. We want to make sure this match is a match for life. If there is any reason the family can no longer keep the dog (move, lost job, etc) we will take the dog back, even if it's years later.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

Locally there are only 3 of us that are volunteering. We foster them at our homes, so there is no physical shelter. We respond immediately to any and all inquiries regarding the puppies and dogs, and will set up a "meet and greet" with the potential owners. At this time we don't have a regular place for adoption events. Meeting the puppies will either be in San Francisco where our fosters live.

More about this rescue

AWARE has been in existence for over 10 years and in the USA works out of San Francisco, California. We mainly rescue dogs from Guatemala but also list owner surrender pets in California. We make sure all animals up for adoption are spayed and neutered. We bring in about 20 puppies a year from Sumpango and Antigua Guatemala.
