My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there, I'm Brownie! My days are filled with learning new tricks and giving the best cuddles. I'm known for my sweet nature and the loyalty I show to my friends here. I've heard that humans love a smart dog, and I'm proud to say I've got brains to spare! I'm always eager to show off my skills. I've got a lot of love to give, and I'm ready to share it with a family who will love me back. So, why should you adopt me? Well, I promise to be your loyal companion, your confidante, and your best friend. I'll bring joy to your days and warmth to your nights. In return, all I ask for is a loving home where I can be my sweet, smart, and friendly self.

More about this shelter

Founded in 1971 as the Animal Aid Society of Englewood, Suncoast Humane Society began with a few cages where people left stray animals to be cared for. Over the years, our service area has grown to include over 400 square miles, covering three counties: Sarasota, Charlotte and portions of Lee.
Suncoast Humane Society provides a safe refuge for thousands of lost, abandoned and abused animals from our service area each year. We are committed to our open-door policy of never turning any animal away, regardless of health, temperament, breed or circumstances.
