My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, I'm Skye. I might seem a bit reserved at first, but once I get to know you, my loyalty knows no bounds. I love exploring new scents and sounds, each day is a new adventure for me. I'm a bit of an independent soul, but don't mistake that for indifference. I just like having my own space sometimes. I'm a good listener too. You can tell me about your day and I'll sit by your side, offering silent support. I may be shy, but I'm full of love to give. I'm just waiting for the right person to share it with. Adopting me means gaining a loyal companion, a curious explorer, and a loving friend. I promise, I'll make every day brighter.

More about this shelter

Founded in 1971 as the Animal Aid Society of Englewood, Suncoast Humane Society began with a few cages where people left stray animals to be cared for. Over the years, our service area has grown to include over 400 square miles, covering three counties: Sarasota, Charlotte and portions of Lee.
Suncoast Humane Society provides a safe refuge for thousands of lost, abandoned and abused animals from our service area each year. We are committed to our open-door policy of never turning any animal away, regardless of health, temperament, breed or circumstances.
