My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

In Litchfield, NH - Australian Shepherd Lovers, Meet Levi! Levi is a super laid back 6-month-old, 22lb (as of 7/25) mini-American shepherd puppy who’s just about ready for a new furever family to call his own! He’s super go-with-the-flow, but his only formal request for his new home is that they allow their doggies on the furniture! Doggy beds are fine, but couch time with the humans is far superior!
Levi is quite honestly a unicorn puppy. He’s very well mannered & even-tempered; an old soul in a cute puppy body! The good: He is the definition of a Velcro dog. His favorite place to be is on your lap/at your heels. He would be a wonderful companion for someone who works from home at least a few times a week. He’s very quiet and lays by foster mama’s feet (or on her lap when she lets him) all day while she works! Rides like a dream in the car (super calm & quiet; no signs of car sickness even on long, bumpy rides)

He’s indifferent about other dogs - he’s interacted well with every dog he’s met (10+ of different breeds/sizes/etc.) but isn’t overly excited about them either. Could easily go to a home with or without dogs and would likely thrive either way. Calm around kiddos that he has met, so would likely do fine being raised in a home around them. While he’s not currently being fostered around kids, he has met foster’s extended family with kids ages 2-10, and he did very well! Stayed down & was relaxed about them approaching for gentle pets and was content watching them run around without chasing/nipping/jumping.

He picks up on things very quickly. When he first arrived, he had no idea how to use the stairs, and within a day he was going up and down them confidently. He has started to try out basic commands (sit, down, etc.), but he will need more training and reinforcement in his forever home as he is still a growing, developing puppy with puppy brain & puppy energy. He’s pretty food motivated though, so foster mama thinks he’ll be a quick learner! Has slept through the night every night (8-9 hours!) without issue. He sleeps soundly in a crate next to the foster’s bed.
Those big brown eyes and expressive eyebrows will melt straight into your soul, and he will hypnotize you to give him whatever he wants… Beware! You have been warned.
Needs improvement: He is timid at first, so he needs a bit of time to warm up to new people. But once he does, he’s an absolute love! He needs continued work on house training - he has been good as long as he’s let out at regular intervals, but he doesn’t really indicate when he has to go, so if we forget to let him out for a while, he will go in the house As previously mentioned, he has little to no formal obedience training, so he needs additional work on the basics and beyond. Willingly goes into his crate to hang out/eat/sleep but is not a fan of being left alone in it. He typically barks/cries if his humans leave the room/house. Foster is currently working on this by doing short spurts at a time and leaving high reward toys like stuffed Kongs for his crate only, but he will need additional crate training work.

If he sounds perfect for your family, please fill out our application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application

Levi was transported from Oklahoma to New Hampshire. The transport was $200 and we are asking for half of that cost plus a $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to his new furever family.
