My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Captain is an all around great cat who loves to greet people when they visit and will happily follow people from room to room. His full name is Captain Francois LeClerc and he was named after the first recorded pirate with a peg leg. Just like that pirate, Captain is missing a front leg. He lost his leg and half of his tail when he was found on the street as a young stray cat after likely being hit by a car. That was about 9 years ago and he is now about 12 years old (estimated birth date 2/4/2012) and he gets around great without any problems and has a great personality in spite of his rough start in life.

Captain has medium-length hair and loves being brushed except on his belly. He enjoys being picked up and held which isn’t always that common for cats. He will always find himself near you even when it seems like he is just sleeping. He generally chooses to lay alone or by your feet and not directly on someone’s lap. Captain enjoys sleeping in pet beds and on cushions throughout the house. He may occasionally sleep on your bed at night but he usually does not stay through the night. He has asthma and may occasionally get a coughing fit (this is very rare fortunately) which is treated with an inhaler that he is great about receiving when needed.

He does great with dogs of different sizes and temperaments and enjoys cuddling with them in a big pet bed so he will do great in a home with dogs. He has lived for the last several years with another cat named Mulder (also on Petfinder) and although they are not considered bonded, they get along well and will cuddle and groom each other so if you are looking for two cats of differing ages, they may be a good fit for you. Captain is a submissive cat and will not do well with other aggressive or dominant cats. He prefers to spend his time with other laid back pets who will groom one another and cuddle. He mostly ignores children but can nip at them if they are rough with him or they pet his belly so a home with older children or adults will be the best fit for him.

Captain is a very unique boy who looks grumpy but he is really a very gentle and loving sweetheart. He enjoys watching ducks whether in person or on TV. He loves getting his head and chin scratched and will happily sit on a chair near you while you are relaxing.

Please ask about this very sweet boy today!
