My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Sly!

Such an adoptable guy! At just under a year this sweet big puppy is looking for his forever home. While he is such a smart boy already, he still has so much potential! Sly has done fantastic with dogs of all ages and sizes even those with disabilities; he thinks everyone is a new friend and is working on learning boundaries. He has also done great with cats so far, showing interest to meet them but definitely respects their boundaries and signs. Sly has a healthy appetite, from fruits and veggies to all types of dog (or cat) treats! This makes training easy and fun!

Sly is quite adaptable to play, from rough and wrestling to chase and light play. He likes to play tug and sometimes hog all the toys, but is fine to share and shows no resource guarding. Sly equally enjoys a good nap, or to just sit and hang out on the porch. For being so young he is overall a mellow guy, especially when meeting new people! With being so young there is still so much for him to experience, like babies and kids, maybe some boat rides? While Sly may be a big guy he is also nervous with these new experiences but responds well with positive reinforcement- treats!!!

This sweet boy has much more to his story too as he was pulled from a local shelter where he was scheduled to be euthanized at just 6 months old due to overcrowding. He and his siblings who were all abandoned at the shelter and faced the same fate are still here today thanks to amazing rescues like Hearts of the North and their supporters.

Here's some other quick info: approximately 11 months, about 80lbs, neutered, microchipped, up to date on vacc, HW-, dog friendly, cat social, crate trained, 95% house trained (3 accidents in last 2mnth), food motivated, he knows sit, paw, and lay down, currently located in Upstate of South Carolina

***********
Slytherin is located in a foster home. We are happy to coordinate a meet & greet for pre-approved adopters. To get started, please submit an adoption application at https://bit.ly/USAHOTNADOPT2024

Adoption process:
Potential adopters complete our online application. From there, we contact them to continue the screening process including checking references, vet checks, and a personal phone interview. Upon completion, potential adopters are pre-approved.

From there, potential adopters are put in touch with the foster parent(s) of the dog they are interested in adopting. If a specific dog is not in mind, admins will make suggestions based on who we feel will be good candidates for their home. We take the foster's opinions into high consideration when determining ideal fit for an adoption.

Once the dog is determined to be a good fit for the adoptive home, the adopter is given advisement on decompression, training, safety gear, and future no preventative vetting. The adoption contract is signed and adoption fee paid to finalize the adoption.
