Mara has been an absolute joy to foster. As a young puppy, she is getting along very well with dogs of various sizes, ages and levels of activity. When she is unsure, she quickly finds her "person" and observes the situation more carefully. She takes a little bit to warm up the new people, but when she does; she is quite bonded.
Mara has had the opportunity to spend her recent days on a larger piece of property with deer, birds, rabbits, neighbor cats, etc. Thus far she really wants to make friends with the neighbor cat and has been very kind in her approach. Small birds are fun to chase. The deer make her VERY curious, but she has been called off of all recent attempted follows. Her recall when she is free roaming on the property has been incredible for such a young age. Treats help a lot.
Mara appears to be very well on her way to full potty training, especially if she has access to the outdoors during the day. She has been spending the full night on her own in her open crate. We have not yet started locking the crate.
Mara spends time both on and off leash and has been successful with both. She still needs leash work in terms of being aware of human feet/legs, etc. She wants to be close and forgets that she can trip you up a bit. Great trail dog on walks/runs.
Mara has a plethora of play toys and plenty of chewing distractions. As a result, she has avoided any shoes, socks, furniture, etc. Thus far, her longest stay at home, out of crate, unattended has been 3 1/2 hours with no issue.
