My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

❤  IN VERMONT / AVAILABLE FOR FOSTER TO ADOPT FOR LOCAL ADOPTERS

Meet Otto!

Otto is 5 years old, male (approx. DOB 2-7-19), 49 lbs., vetted, is or will be neutered, and micro-chipped.

In his current dynamic this handsome boy is potty trained, house trained, has reliable recall (but will chase yard animals), is very food and affection motivated, is a great at adventure and camping activities, is good with other dogs (doesn't like to share his toys), has been ok with cats (needs time to acclimate then settles in), and has been ok with other animals such as chickens and horses (again, needs exposure and time to acclimate). Otto is GREAT on leash and knows Sit, Wait, Up, Down, Come, and Roll-over! He also gives great high-fives since he is so tall! Otto also is great on car rides including long road trips, is very open to touch and will let you trim his nails if he is standing! He is good with older kids who are used to dogs (little kids make him nervous). Otto is extremely athletic. He currently can be left in the home uncrated reliably (some counter surfing has happened). Otto is HUGELY attached to people and is very social. Otto is very motivated by pleasing his person and following commands, LOVES to swim and play frisbee (can catch a rubber frisbee too!!!!!). Otto has gone to work at an amusement park and he is with kids, adults and new environments frequently. He has been fine with fireworks and thunderstorms (once he knows he is "home"). He would enjoy a home that is active! Stay tuned for more information as Otto is a new rescue!

If you are interested in adopting Otto please fill out an Application at  www.Passion-4-Paws.org  (please make sure you have the Vermont site not CT) - thanks!

Please note Fosters have 1st option of Adoption.

Disclosure:   Breed labels are often incorrect: we rarely know the genetic lineage of the dogs we rescue.  Many shelters and rescues specify breeds based on appearance; however, research has shown that less than 2% of a dog’s DNA determines appearance!   Passion 4 Paws does not practice the use of labels pertaining to compatibility with others or dog breed.  Labels such as “dog friendly” and “child friendly” should be used with caution as they often over-simplify the personalities and behavior of dogs.

Foster based! All of our pups are in homes so they can benefit from a home environment versus a boarding/shelter environment to prepare for their forever homes!

More about this rescue

Passion 4 Paws is an animal rescue organization founded by Robin Shover of Shelburne, Vermont. Robin has invested many years learning best practices to rescue dogs primarily from death row at high kill shelters. Robin works very closely with Potters Angels Rescue out of Randolph, Vermont and decided the most effective way to save even more dogs is to continue working closely with PAR plus her own new entity in Chittenden County and surrounding areas. Many people who personally know Robin realize her "passion" and dedication to the dogs. P4Ps rescues dogs from high kill shelters, provides a safe environment with foster families and adopters, education for the community, and advocacy for animal rights. Our group will be staffed entirely by volunteers and will be served by a Board of Directors. Our efforts will be supported through donations, charity events, Corporate/Employee Benefit tax deductible donation programs, and the generosity of animal lovers from within the community. Our focus is on dog rescue only. All funds received will be used strictly for this purpose and will incorporate medical bills, transport fees, food and other items for the dogs, shelter fees, charity events, boarding, and training.
