My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bolo is an 8-year-old gentleman with a heart full of love and a laid-back attitude that makes him an ideal companion for those seeking a calm and peaceful pet. He may be a bit shy when meeting new people, but once he settles in, his sweet and happy-go-lucky nature truly shines. Bolo is house-trained and well-mannered, and he enjoys the simple pleasures in life-like sunbathing, going for slow walks, and chewing on his favorite toys.

This easygoing boy is a joy to have around. He gets along wonderfully with senior dogs and prefers the company of laid-back, mellow dog friends. Though he's not fond of cats, Bolo is the perfect match for someone who values a quiet and serene environment. He rarely barks, making him an ideal companion for anyone who appreciates a peaceful home.

Bolo does require lifelong eye medication for chronic dry eye and takes medication for allergies, but with a little attention to his health needs, he's happy and comfortable. His gentle nature and affectionate personality make him a wonderful companion for anyone who can provide a stable, loving home.

If you're looking for a sweet, low-maintenance dog who will enjoy leisurely strolls, quiet afternoons, and gentle companionship, Bolo may be the perfect match. Come meet this calm, loyal boy and see if you're the one to offer him the forever home he deserves.

Thanks to the generous support of Megan MacPherson, Bolo's adoption fee has been sponsored!

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of North Central Florida was created in 2018 when the leadership of the Alachua County Humane Society, Gainesville Pet Rescue, and Helping Hands Pet Rescue decided to permanently join forces. By becoming the Humane Society of North Central Florida, our organizations were able to effectively streamline services for pets and pet owners, eliminate any duplication of services, maximize our community’s resources, and improve the life-saving abilities of the entire region.

Our founding organizations have been dedicated to serving pets in Alachua County for more than 40 years. The Humane Society of North Central Florida is a limited intake, no-kill animal rescue shelter. The animals in our facility are transferred from open-intake and/or managed admission municipal shelters across North Central Florida. The Humane Society of North Central Florida is an independent, local 501(c)(3) organization. As such, we do not receive funding from federal agencies, nor are we affiliated with any other state or national organizations such as the Humane Society of the United States or the ASPCA.
