Jocelyn is a gorgeous 1-year old German Shephard mix. She is shy around humans, but when given time to get comfortable, she will charm you with her sweet and goofy personality. Her signature move to get your attention is an affectionate nose boop.
Jocelyn was picked up as a stray, and likely has never had a loving family of her own. It took our Animal Services unit a while to finally catch her after she had been roaming for a few months. Once she was in the shelter environment, it was difficult for volunteers to get Jocelyn out for walks because of how fearful she was of humans. She was sent to a foster home and in that environment, she has blossomed into a sweet and happy pup.
While in foster, Jocelyn has been working on all her good girl skills including potty training, basic commands and getting used to her crate. She has learned that getting bathed and brushed isn't so bad and has loved having soft beds to snooze on and plenty of squeaky toys to keep herself entertained. Jocelyn is not destructive, responds quickly to correction, and wants to please her human. Best of all, Jocelyn has been doing extremely well with meeting new people who come to visit! She just needed some routine, and a calm, stable environment to help build her confidence.
Jocelyn gets along wonderfully with other dogs and would love a home with a playful doggy friend. There are 4 permanent dogs in her foster home, and she also recently had a weekend sleepover with another HES foster dog - Mr. Brown (also available for adoption!). Jocelyn and Mr. Brown have similar temperaments/energy levels and had so much fun playing together! Maybe somebody would like to adopt both of them??
Jocelyn hasn't been around cats to our knowledge, but does not seem to have a prey drive, and might be fine with the proper introduction. Given that she is still sometimes nervous around people, it would be best for her to go to an adult only home.
If she sounds like a good fit for you, give us a call to schedule a time to meet her at the shelter!
