Lovie found her way to DREAM by the caring of a Good Samaritan found her wandering the streets alone. They tried to locate her owner but sadly, no one came forward. She was dirty and had skin infection that had taken sometime to develop. Luckily, since coming to DREAM Lovie has had her skin looked after and her black coat is coming in nicely. She also had all her vaccines done and a good cleaning of the toofers (aka a dental 🦷🪥😉) and didn’t even need any removed-a rarity in the dachshund world.
Lovie is aptly named as she relishes attention and even asks for it with gentle nudges, whimpers, grizzle’s, mews and humpfs. She rarely barks and is a pro at potty training. She even uses the doggie door in the rain! She must not have gotten the memo from the SODAADAR-Society of Dachshunds Against Anything Damp and Rainy.
But seriously, this little 14# gal is a love. Lovie would do well in a home with low key people who want to share their days with her and her relaxed approach to life. She absolutely loves to go for rides in the car so would make an excellent travel companion.
If you are interested in adopting Lovie, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our
online adoption application. Lovie's adoption fee is $400.
All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Lovie will go to his / her new home microchipped, spayed/neutered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed.
Almost every dog's veterinary expenses exceed our adoption fees; we are a non-profit.
DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia.
Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part.
DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
