My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: approx 3-4 years Weight: 76 lbs (ideal weight 85-90 lbs)

Lila was found stray and ended up at a very crowded city shelter. Her owners didn't come for her but her new foster mom did! She's now living the good life in a home until she finds her forever family. She arrived to the shelter with scabs on her nose and they are healing.

At the shelter, Lila was described as dainty and gentle and social with other dogs. Her foster mom says she's great on a leash and rides well in the car, and she actively seeks pets and attention. This happy girl has been spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. She tested positive for heartworms and has been treated. We're certain she'll be adopted by the time she needs to be retested for heartworms in January, but we'll cover the cost of the test and any further treatment that may be required (likely none). We haven't seen her around cats and imagine she will be just fine in a family with children.

We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application.

Additional adoption info

Adopters will complete an adoption app. If he/she has a pet, we will check their vet reference and a home visit is not needed (as long as the vet reference is current). All pets must be up to date current on Heartworm prevention and S/N. If a home visit is needed, we will complete that ASAP--as we don't want any delays in the adoption process. The adoption fees are listed here: https://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoption-fees/. There is a 5-day grace period to make sure he/she is a good fit for your family. A full refund will be issued if the pet is returned within the 5-day trial period. Before you chose to adopt, check out this link for a few items to consider before making this big step: https://legacyhumanesociety.org/are-you-ready-to-adopt/
