My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Buzz, the ultimate mashup of Great Pyrenees and Great Dane, with a personality as big as his paws! This big, goofy sweetheart sports a dapper little Chaplin 'stache that adds a touch of old-school comedy to his already delightful personality. Born in February 2024, Buzz is the kind of dog who believes that leaning on you is the highest form of affection—whether he’s resting against you or nudging for a good butt scratch, he knows how to charm his way into your heart. As a true Pyr, he’s perfected the art of the hug and the classic paw-tap to remind you that he’s ready for some love. Buzz is a quick learner too! He’s mastered the art of playing with toys and walking on a leash, and he’s even nailed the whole potty-training thing. While he’s still polishing up his sit and stay commands, his progress is impressive, and his enthusiasm for learning makes him a joy to train. This smart cookie thrives on praise and recognition, and his wagging tail shows just how much he loves being called a good boy. Despite his size, Buzz is still a young pup at heart, which means he’s looking for a mentor and playmate to help him navigate the big world. Whoever welcomes this lovable giant into their home is in for a treat – he’s an incredibly sweet companion who’s eager to learn and love, and provide his furever family with endless fun!

Buzz will need obedience training as he gets older and more mature. There is a lot for a puppy to learn and like all small puppies, he will need someone who can be home with him a lot and provide him with love, patience and boundaries to help him become a loyal companion. He loves the companionship of other animals and requires another dog in the home to act as his mentor as he continues to understand the rules of his new world.

PUPPIES ARE ONLY PLACED IN HOMES WITH YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL RESIDENT DOGS WHO ARE AT LEAST 50 POUNDS.

Our requirements for puppy adoptions are simple and necessary.

  1. Our puppies are not livestock guardians, they are family pets that live inside of the family home.
  2. Puppies must be placed in homes with a youthful, adult resident dog of similar size. This gives the puppy a mentor and a solid foundation for becoming part of the family.
  3. Puppies are only adopted to homes with someone at home at least part of the day. If no one is home for 6-8 hours at a time, please do not apply.
  4. Preference is always given to those with Great Pyrenees experience.
  5. Applicants must have secure, visible fencing and a socialization plan in place.
  6. The fastest way to be considered for a puppy is to fill out an application. Adoption is not first come, first served. GPRS and its fosters work diligently to find the right fit for each and every unique dog and puppy.
  7. Applicant’s personal pets must be current on vaccines & heartworm/flea prevention and be altered.

Adoption fee: $450 (Adoption fee includes spay or neuter, distemper/parvo vaccines, flea preventative, deworming, and health certificate for travel). Adopters pay the cost of transport services outside of Texas area. Transport costs depend on location and company used. Northeast transport fee is $200. The Northwest and Midwest transport fees range from $225-$350, The Southeast transport fees range from $250-$350.

GPRS has proudly placed thousands of Great Pyrenees and GP mixes in the PNW for over a decade. Our volunteers have over 100 years combined experience fostering, screening, and placing this majestic breed into loving, forever homes. When adopting from us, you can rest assured that we provide life-long support and advice when it comes to your new family member. As always, our purpose is to find the best match for every unique dog that comes through our doors. Taking the time to find the right fit comes first and foremost at the Great Pyrenees Rescue Society. If you are interested in adopting, please take the time, and apply. You will see firsthand how much care, attention and love goes into the process, when you are guided a personal screener. This is why we have people come back again and again for their next family member! See all our dogs, fill out an application and discover why we are the BEST at placing the right dog in the right home! https://gprs.rescuegroups.org/.

ADOPTION, FOSTERING, AND DONATIONS are just some of the ways you can help a rescued dog. We have worked hard to cultivate a large network of volunteers to save this majestic breed. While monetary donations are always much appreciated, you can also help by donating your time as a GPRS foster or volunteer.
