My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you are looking for a sweet companion to keep you company, look no further!
Hanna is a lovely petite grey tabby who fits this to a tee!

She was rescued in Northern Ontario and ended up in a shelter with her newborn litter of 5.
When the kittens were 2 weeks old she was transferred to an Abbey Cats foster home in the GTA.
Her kittens have now been adopted and it is Hanna’s turn to find her forever home.

Hanna was quite timid when she first arrived at her foster home, having come from the outdoors and then a busy shelter.
But the more time that has passed, the more affectionate Hanna has become.
She is still not thrilled about loud noises and people she does not know, but she seeks out her foster mom and loves getting attention from her.

Hanna adores human attention once you have earned her trust.
She approaches her foster family and adores being stroked on her face.
If you stop, she turns her head to you as if to ask for more.
She arches her back into the pets and looks at you like you are the best person ever.

Hanna will sit on the couch and allow you to stroke her.
She also has started sitting on our laps.
She has a loud purr and begins to purr even from the moment that we enter the room.
We think she will be a fantastic lap cat when she gets settled in her forever home.

Since her kittens have left, Hanna is also becoming more playful and has been seen running around the room chasing balls and other toys, and she has also been seen leaping for wand toys!
Hanna has some remnants of her outdoor life in that she is scared of loud noises and sometimes hides behind the couch.
But this is happening less and less.
We think that she will likely enjoy most being a solo cat so she can have all the attention to herself.

She will likely do best in a smaller space, such as an apartment or condo, as she likes to feel cozy and comfortable.
Hanna needs a patient adopter who will let this beauty blossom on her own terms.
Once you have earned her trust, she will be the sweetest girl and will reward you with her devoted company.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

***Please bear in mind that it is against Abbey Cat policy to adopt a single kitten under the age of 6 months to a home without a kitten of similar age for company.***

Due to an unprecedented demand (especially for kittens) we regret that we are unable to respond by phone to all of the applications we are currently receiving.

We are only able at this time to phone those applicants who have sent in an online adoption application, can provide a vet reference and their criteria matches what the particular cat or kittens' needs are.

We regret any inconvenience caused as we do our best to meet the overwhelming demand we are currently experiencing.

We want to make sure that our rescued cats and kittens go to good, loving homes so before we adopt, an adoption counselor will conduct a short pre-adoption interview to make sure that you and the cat are a good match.

More about this rescue

Abbey Cat Adoptions is a registered Canadian charity dedicated to finding permanent homes for unwanted cats and kittens throughout the Greater Toronto Area.
Each year, ACA rescues cats from outdoor environments and overcrowded shelters.
Our cats live in a network of volunteer foster homes throughout the GTA until they are adopted into suitable, loving homes; we do not have a shelter.
We are not government funded and we have no paid staff; we rely exclusively on the generosity of like-minded animal lovers to fund our program.
