My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Monk is a giant goofball. This sweet fellow jumps straight into play with dogs, so if your dog doesn't care for that then leashed introductions until everyone is comfortable is a must. Monk just wants to run and play and run some more. If you are looking for a giant puppy who will bring lots of joy and laughs then look no further than Monk. He does need work in regards to jumping, but a lot of that is his need to run and play without being able to do so currently. He has been to every event including the Christmas Parade and loves greeting everyone. He especially loves belly rubs.

Go meet their pets

We have a weekly adoption fair at Petco in Danville, Va. where we bring some of our dogs and cats. Most are fostered in members' homes. If you see a dog on our web site, please call us and we will make an appointment for you to meet. We make every effort to match the dogs with their prospective homes. Go to http://spcaofpittsco.rescuegroups.org or spcaofpc.petfinder.com.

More about this rescue

We are a group of dedicated volunteers formed in 2007 to increase adoptions and reduce the kill rate from our local pound. We foster, vet, transfer and love all the dogs that we rescue and make every possible effort to place them in forever loving homes. We also operate a food bank to help keep pets in their homes. We are totally dependent on volunteers and donations from animal lovers like ourselves. We are saving and placing 20-30 dogs a month who would have been euthanized. We need you-Please help us save precious lives.
