Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion.
A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known.
Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.
Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list.
thanks

Date into Rescue: 4/22/2024
Reason for being in rescue: owner release to shelter
Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Special Needs? Banjo is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Banjo arrived in rescue in poor physical health. He's been treated for ear infections, has regrown a beautiful coat thanks to quality food and clean living conditions and is ready for his happily ever after. Our vet noted that Banjo's teeth do have excessive wear. This is likely from his previous living conditions. Regular dentals will be required for this boy, and he'll likely lose some teeth as he ages.
Weight: 53 lbs
Height: 20 in
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Adoption Fee: $599
Fence needed? Yes, Banjo requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller
What kind of home would be best for me? Banjo - this instrumental young man just wants to be involved! In everything you do, Banjo is an active young man ready to debut. He's got it all planned out for you so don't worry! Banjo loves the single life, and like most musicians he doesn't want to settle for just one set of dogs. Banjo loves to mingle and play, he spends his days playing with his furry companions, but when it's time to wrap up he much prefers the solitude of just him and his favorite person. Banjo wants friends and buddies, just not at home with him. He wants all of the love you can offer him, and he wants it for himself!
Banjo is a Velcro dog; he wants to be with you anywhere and everywhere you go. Walks, hikes, trips to the beach or dog park, dinner at an outdoor cafe, anywhere you go he's willing to go with you. Long story short - he wants you to be home more than you are away. Banjo understands you may not be retired, but he's looking for a home where you work from home, home school, or are retired. His caregiver noted Banjo does well following him and listening to him. Banjo has met our resident rescue cats and was indifferent to them. If you are looking for a confident and loving companion who adores people above all else, Banjo could be the perfect match for you.
What is my personality like? Banjo has lived life with dogs and now is ready to be someone's only companion. Banjo is great with other dogs as long as after they are done playing, he gets to go home with just his people! He loves playing with other dogs and he would enjoy walks and playdates with your friends' dogs. Banjo is rusty on his queues and would appreciate your helping in learning them. If you use treats and praise Banjo will catch on quickly. Banjo will eat anything, and he takes treats gently. He really is a big sweetheart! He loves playing with tennis balls and other toys. Often you will catch him carrying them around in his mouth.
How do I act when I first meet new people? Banjo is full of life; he greets everyone with a great big smile! He can tackle numerous situations with ease and has the personality of a dog who could be a great therapy dog. Banjo lives to be involved with people, places and things - he is always going to be the life of the party! Banjo is a very confident guy. He's never met a stranger and has loved everyone he's ever met. He loves dogs, but people are number one on his list!
Other tips and tidbits: Banjo arrived in rescue as part of a hoarding case so we have very little history on his past. Based on his overall health and condition, our veterinary partner has estimated he is 6 years old. We celebrate his birthday 4/16/2018.
House trained? Dogs can be house-trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.
To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application.
Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.
Thank you for considering CPR.
