My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kilauea is the purr-fect eruption of beauty and curiosity!

Meet Kilauea, a unique and enchanting feline! With her striking beauty and keen intelligence, she captivates everyone who encounters her. Initially cautious around new people, she tends to observe from a distance. However, our dedicated team is working with her to help build her trust until she feels confident enough to seek out affection on her own. Witnessing her transformation is like watching a butterfly emerge from its cocoon.

ABOUT KILAUEA:
- At shelter
- Young, domestic shorthair (tabby), female
- Kilauea is a skittish cat who has had minimal experience with humans.
- Kilauea is currently enrolled in EHS’s socialization program, where dedicated volunteers are working to help her become more comfortable around people.
- She prefers grazing throughout the day over eating large meals, reflecting her free-spirited nature. (Treats are a helpful tool for winning her trust!)
- Kilauea enjoys lively interactions with her feline companions, including chasing and running games.
- She adores hunting feather wands and lasers, is quite skilled at flipping springs and balls into the air, and has been known to spend her energy bursts on the running wheel!
- Some skittish cats may remain reserved, while others may express their trust and affection in a variety of ways.
- Kilauea is spayed, house-trained, not declawed, microchipped, and has received core vaccinations.

KILAUEA’S IDEAL HOME:
- Kilauea loves to play with other cats, and a friendly feline companion may help her feel at ease in her new home.
- A skittish cat like Kilauea will benefit from a calm, quiet environment, preferably without small children or dogs.
- Potential adopters should be prepared to commit the time, effort, and patience required to help Kilauea settle into her new environment. EHS will provide post-adoption support to assist Kilauea with a successful transition to her forever home.
