My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion.

A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.

Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.

Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.

Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list.

thanks

Date into Rescue: 4/22/2024
Reason for being in rescue: hoarding case
Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Special Needs? Francis is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative.
Weight: 43 lbs
Height: 19 in
Spayed/Neutered: Yes

Adoption Fee: $599

Fence needed? Yes, Francis requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller

What kind of home would be best for me? Francis loves her puppy friends, and we know for a fact she needs to be in a home with a canine brother or sister. Better yet BOTH! Francis thrives in a group environment and if you’re looking for a third dog who just wants guidance in her life Francis is your best bet! She spends her days tumbling through green grass with her best friends and when it’s time to come inside she hurries along at the back of the pack. Francis would love to go on slow walks around the neighborhood with you and her furry companion, and though she may not know how to walk the best on a leash she will try her best and follow your guiding hand. If these new situations may be a little taxing at first Francis always follows a strong leader without hesitation and once you show her you’ve got her under your wing Francis will jump into any situation with a reverence to your efforts! Francis has met our resident rescue cats and was indifferent to them.

What is my personality like? Francis arrived in rescue as part of a hoarding case. We would say Francis lives for the long haul. She loves to play hard to get but give her some time to warm up to the idea of pets and treats and you’ve won her sweet little heart. Francis is most definitely a lover and not a fighter, and she’s a follower to the heart.

Francis has experienced a little less than most dogs in her life, nonetheless, she has not let this hold her back. Francis just follows better than she leads and she’s okay with that! She’s rusty on her basic commands like sit and stay or lay down but Francis is a calm and sweet dog with the yearning potential to learn. When it’s time to eat she follows her caregivers, comes inside when told, and crates herself readily for a bowl of food or a treat. Francis loves guidance, we like to think she would be the perfect college graduate. Eager to learn and ready to put her new skills into practice. Francis is sweet and forgiving and even through her slight shyness, she loves a good pet or tasty treat!

How do I act when I first meet new people? Francis is very cautious and shy with people. She's a little afraid of people right now. Francis is learning to trust people and will come up to sniff you. We are working with her on her trust issue, and we see slow improvement. Her special adopter needs to understand she will be a project under development.

Other tips and tidbits: Francis arrived in rescue as part of a hoarding case so we have very little information on her past. Based on her overall health and condition, she is estimated at 4 years old. We celebrate her birthday 4/16/2020.

House trained? Dogs can be house-trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A doghouse trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill based on your schedule.

Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.

To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application.

Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.

Thank you for considering CPR.
