My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

***AT SHELTER***

Unlock the heart of Merapi!

Merapi is a beautiful buff kitten whose name means "mountain of fire," a fitting tribute to the fiery spirit hidden beneath his timid exterior. Despite his stunning looks, he had a rough start in life, but the challenges he faced have shaped his gentle personality.

At first glance, Merapi might seem shy, often darting away at the slightest hint of human interactions, which is typical for cats with limited exposure to people. Over time, Merapi has shown remarkable growth, slowly learning to trust and embrace human companionship. Now he welcomes gentle pets and affection after a slow, careful approach. He loves to play and has shown interest in various toys. Merapi prefers a calm environment and will quickly retreat to a safe distance to observe if things get too loud or busy.

Merapi is a skittish cat who has had minimal experience with humans. He is currently enrolled in EHS's socialization program, where dedicated volunteers are working to help him become more comfortable around people. There have been many successful graduates from this program, but potential adopters should be prepared to commit the time, effort, and patience required to help Merapi along this journey. It should be noted that while some skittish cats might remain reserved, others may express their trust and affection in a variety of ways. A skittish cat will benefit from a calm, quiet environment, preferably without small children. EHS will provide post-adoption support to assist Merapi with a successful transition to his forever home.

Merapi gets along well with other cats, but because of his reserved demeanor, it's uncertain how he would adapt to a home with other pets. He will thrive best in an environment that offers quiet moments and gentle interactions. This sweet little guy requires a loving, kind, and patient owner who understands the importance of a gradual approach to build his confidence further. With continued support, there's no doubt that Merapi will blossom into a loving companion, ready to explore the world with his newfound trust in humans.

Will you be the one to help this beautiful kitten feel secure and find his way to happiness? If so, adopt Merapi today!
