My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Supernova, a sweet and affectionate girl who warms up to new friends quickly. She's curious by nature and loves to explore new items and spaces. Active and social, she's often out and about but also values her independent time.

She's loving and enjoys being petted, with a particular fondness for being held. Supernova has a charming squeak, though she rarely uses it. When catnip is involved, her calm demeanor might give way to playful antics. This sweet girl would be a wonderful addition to any home looking for a darling little companion.

This cat would prefer to be adopted alone and be the only cat in the home.

This cat has been diagnosed with a heart murmur and would benefit from an echocardiogram -- we would appreciate it if their potential adopter could help us cover this cost in lieu of an adoption donation.

More about this rescue

Our rescue group was formed in December 2007, but all our Board Members have had extensive experience rescuing and working with abandoned animals. We often work with other rescue organizations to find appropriate and safe foster and adoptive homes for our pet clients. We regularly go to areas with abandoned animals and collect them. The animals are taken to a licensed veterinarian examined, treated and spayed or neutered. Every effort is made to work with the animal and our foster and adoptive families to find a suitable forever home.

For those animals who are truly wild and feral, we release the animal in a safe and secure location after it has recovered from its medical treatment. We also work with certified wildlife rehabilitators to rescue injured and orphaned wildlife. Our organization is focused on improving the welfare of the abandoned animals in need of help in Brooklyn. In furthering that goal, our resources are focused on the animals.

Aside from a few minimal overhead costs such as our website and phone services, our entire budget is spent on animal care such as medical and food costs.
