My name is Wonka!

Wonka is looking for an active family. He would like a family that wants to play with him and take him for walks. Wonka is a 3 to 4-year-old 45 pound mix breed that arrived at the Mesquite Shelter on 7/23 as a stray. He came in with a running buddy, possibly from the same household. His running buddy is a large black retriever mix. Wonka is very energetic and curious. He was always wanting to know what was going on looking out the window or the gate. He's very playful. Yet, he's gentle and he does not jump on you. He knows the sit and down commands. He takes treats gently. He gets so excited he doesn't stay in a sit or down position for very long. Even though he's energetic and playful, he also likes to cuddle and have his ears scratched. He comes when you call him. He's a friendly, happy boy. He would probably do well with children. He walks OK on a leash. He did his business when he got out into the yard. Some of the dogs were barking at him and he was not sure what to make of that. We suggest if you have another dog, you ask the shelter staff for a dog test. Wonka told me he would love to have a yard to play in but wants to spend most of his time inside relaxing with his new family
