Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Miep was pulled from a puppy mill at 6 years old. She clearly had no handling or socialization with humans or the world.
Prior to coming to us, Miep was living in a very busy neighborhood and in a home with NO other dogs and she was very stressed. She needs a quiet environment, something she is used to from all her years at a puppy mill.
Miep is a typical Shiba with a few quirks! She comes up for engagement, takes treats from us, will jump on our leg to say hi but she needs to learn how to trust you before she’ll let you handle her. Miep will make it clear, you cannot push her.
Miep has been around kids, however, the kids know to leave her alone and only give her treats, etc. if she approaches them. So kids in her home must be older 15+ and understand things come to her on her terms.
As of right now, due to her trust issues. She absolutely needs a fenced in yard attached to your home. Therefore, she cannot live in a condo or apartment or cannot use a leash to get her to that fenced in area. She also must have another dog in the home, she’s very aloof (as are most Shiba’s) and while she doesn’t engage in play, she does follow the other dogs lead.
Miep may have quite the list of requirements, but it's only fair to her that she gets placed in the right home so she doesn't need to transition again. She truly is a sweet girl and we LOVE having her around but we'd also love to see her in a home. We really hope there's someone out there willing to take her in and give her a loving home. For the right situation, we will consider a foster to adopt home in MN or the surrounding states.
Miep is pictured with her roomie/buddy Jazz. If he could find a forever hospice home, the two would make a great pair. :-)
Our adoption fee will also provide post adoption support to make sure Miep's placement is a success.
If you are interested in Miep, please fill out an application on our website and a volunteer will be in touch. https://foreverfido.org/adoptable-dogs/
****Forever Fido Puppy Rescue is located near Rochester, MN. We will not ship dogs and a Meet & Greet with the dog you are interested in is required to be done in person.****
