Cat located in this city: Archer/Gainesville FL
Cat’s Name: Marjorie
Cat’s Age & Sex: 5 years old - Female
Cat’s vetting history (spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped): Spayed, Vaccinated, and microchipped
Animals story: (where found and reason for wanting to rehome): Marjorie was adopted in February of 2024 from our local animal shelter. From what I gather, she was mistreated in her previous home and has always been a little anxious, but very affectionate. During the first could weeks, she was adjusting so well and was playful and very affectionate. We already had a young male cat 9- year old) when we brought her to our home. He has become increasingly aggressive and dominant - not allowing her to get to the food, cat box, and sometimes out from under the bed. We have tried so much more too recommended by the vet. Marjorie has gotten to where she is overwhelmingly anxious and spends a majority of her time under my daughter’s bed hiding - I do not feel that her being in our home is humane and loving to her due to her poor quality of life.
We need to find her a quiet home with no dominant cats. She likes other cats but needs a kind cat friend!
Personality (shy, social, likes to be held, lap cat? Likes or dislikes): She is shy, affectionate, gentle, and great with my kids. She does not like loud noises or sudden movements but I feel that this would improve in the right environment where she doesn’t feel like she needs to be on high alert all the time.
Any Supplies that go with pet (food, litter, leash, cat box, bedding, toys): Bowls, litter box
What food is the cat eating (dry only, dry and wet): dry only -but please know I just learned how IMPORTANT it is for a cat to get wet food daily . Maybe in next home you can limit the dry food and give wet food at least once a day so she can avoid any future health issues cats get from eating dry only. More info below
:::::::::::Please know that cats need canned wet food given DAILY. Why? Because cats have a low thirst drive and actually NEED the moisture from the wet food! Wet food is 75 % water (dry FOOD only 10%) and giving them wet food daily will help them avoid Urinary tract issues (which can lead to litter box avoidance), kidney disease, obesity issues linked to diabetes and cardiac issues. You will save on vet bills too! Limit the overly processed dry food and ensure cat eats all the wet food daily. At the VERY minimum each cat should get one 3oz. can of wet food a day or HALF of a 5.5oz. can a day (although we recommend double this).

IF YOU WANT TO ADOPT:
1) Please show up with a cat carrier
2) Small adoption fee of: 20
3) I will call/text one month from adoption day just to make sure everything is going well
4) Please show up with your Driver's License.
5) Information sheet will be filled out (your information as well as mine)
*Please know, that when you bring your newly adopted cat or kitten home, it is always BEST to place him/her in a very small room (bathroom works great) with their litter box, food, water, and bed for a few days to a few weeks. This way the animal can adjust much quicker and get acclimated to the new environment with less stress. All cats/kittens need time to adjust, so if you adopt please allow this. Thank you.

More about this rescue
Furry Nation Salvation, Inc. is a foster based all-volunteer non-profit animal rescue organization located in Florida. We commit our resources throughout Volusia County and surrounding areas in finding permanent homes for abandoned, unwanted, and neglected animals. Run by dedicated volunteers, our work is a heartfelt collaboration in making a difference for the innocent animals without a voice. Our foster volunteers “one on one” care help us to determine the animals true personality to best fit them into their forever home. We also promote, practice, and work, in the area of TNR (trap, neuter, return). This method of population reduction and control for feral cats has proven to be successful and we are committed to this method. FNS strives to educate the public on the importance of spay and neutering their pets and provide locations where they are able to do so at a discounted price. We assist in transporting animals to and from veterinary clinics, and help individuals place their unwanted pet who would otherwise be dumped at an animal shelter with an uncertain future. We do so by utilizing social media and animal adoption sites and always making ourselves available with support and advice. We love what we do and together we make a difference for so many. Furry Nation Salvation does not have a facility and rely on foster homes for our rescued animals. Our current goal is to establish a dedicated rescue facility to be able to help even more animals in need.
