My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! My name is Mara and I am a classic, classy tabby, with LOTS of love to share! I had a rough start to life outside fending for myself, but in the last year, I was scooped up with my 5 brand new kittens, where we are loving our new indoor adventures! My foster mom was not sure if I was friendly at first, but I quickly showed her that with gentle love and trust, I can be the SWEETEST snuggle-muffin in the land! I am the best mamma to my kittens, and will be happiest going to a home with one of them as a playmate, or to a house with another friendly cat. I might be happy as an only cat if I have a human at home with me most of the day that I can hang around with! I am strong, healthy and love to play with my Bee wand toy! I chirp like a bird when I am happy and will sing as I walk around with a soft toy in my mouth! Do not look at me though or I will drop the toy and pretend like I have never seen it in my life! While I have already had a litter of kittens, I am still a bit of a kitten myself, and have a long life of love to give ahead of me! I am great with small children and other cats. I am not so sure about dogs as I am fiercely protective of my family, cats and humans alike! Might you be my forever human? Apply to meet me today! Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at http://www.caws.org/application/, email adopt@caws.org or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.

Go meet their pets

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.
