My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there! My name is Mr. Miyaki, and I'm ready to find a permanent home full of love and care. I'm a stray that was rescued in the Rose Park area and I have had a visit to a vet. I'm super friendly and I love to make you laugh with all my antics. One fun fact about me is that I've got some extra toes, so I can absolutely give you a handshake! I love to sit on top of wardrobes and dressers so I can keep a watchful eye over my kingdom, but if you have a treat for me, I'll come down from my throne to say hello. I'm a ball of energy, and I'm always up for a game of chasing a feather or mouse toy around. I am scared of dogs, so I'd really rather not have any in my new home. The litter box and I get along, so I'm ready whenever you are!

*I am FIV positive, but it's really not as scary as it sounds!
FIV is transmitted from one cat to another by deep puncture wounds. It is NOT spread by casual contact. In other words, kitties can't catch FIV from grooming each other, sharing food bowls, sharing a litter box, etc. Studies have shown that friendly, altered FIV-positive cats are highly unlikely to spread the virus to other kitties in the home. Additional adoption info

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at http://www.caws.org/application/, email adopt@caws.org or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.

Go meet their pets

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.
