My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A steaming cup of Mocha to make your day!

Hi friends! I am Mocha, a chocolate Lab mix, about 2.5 years old, 65 lbs and recently spayed female. I was found tied to a tree in Chula Vista, pregnant, and had my litter in the safety of TAP foster home. My littles are off and it's time for mama bear to shine! I am fully bathroom, crate and leash trained. I am working on not being reactive on leash to other dogs and skateboards. I can stay in the crate at home by myself too.

I have had a tough life and that's made me a bit shy. But once I open up, I am such a sweet girl full of heaps of sugar! I can be quite timid with strangers, but given the time to trust, I will make pals. I am incredibly cuddly like a steamin' mug and my intelligence has wowed people. With dogs, I am selective, and need to be introduced slowly. I can be reactive at first. I have lived with kids at previous fosters. For me ball is life! I love the beach, sand, and long walks.

I would love a sweet and patient family that allows me plenty of time to decompress and trust. I pawmise that once I warm up, I am the sweetest dog ever. I would probably be best in an active home with daily walks and ball fetch sessions. If you ready to grab this cuppa, let's meet up for a cafe date! My adoption fee is $350 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
