My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Previous Husky experience required.

Meeka is a 1-year-old spayed female Husky mix with a heartwarming story of resilience. Rescued from a challenging past where she was neglected, she's now looking for a forever home filled with love and activity.

About Meeka:

Age: 1 year old
Breed: Husky mix (spayed)
Personality: Sweet, energetic, and full of puppy-like enthusiasm
Ideal Home: Active individuals or families with experience with Huskies (no small children due to Meeka's energy level)
Requirements: A securely fenced yard (minimum 5 feet, preferably 6 feet) to ensure her safety and space to play. Husky experience required.

Why Meeka?

Loving Nature: Despite her past, Meeka is incredibly sweet and eager to bond with caring owners.
Activity Partner: Meeka thrives with plenty of exercise and outdoor playtime.
Training Opportunity: She's still learning basic commands and will benefit from ongoing training and socialization. UPDATE: Meeka recently finished a 3-week training course with a professional trainer. she has done well but needs an owner who will continue her positive training.
Companion Compatibility: Meeka would do well in a home with another young dog to play with.

Is Meeka the Right Fit for You?

Husky Experience: Experience with Huskies is preferred, as understanding their breed traits and energy levels is essential.
Commitment to Training: Meeka needs patient owners who can continue her training and provide the structure she craves.
Outdoor Space: A fenced yard allows her to run and explore safely, fulfilling her need for physical and mental stimulation.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process consists of having you fill out an application which includes veterinarian and personal references. Once these references have been checked, we will schedule a home visit. The home visit is not meant to invade your privacy. We only want to make sure that your home is safe and prepared for your new pet. At that time you will be required to complete an Adoption Contract with CTHAA. Please e-mail us at m.a.storen@gmail.com and an Adoption Application will be sent to you.

Go meet their pets

All of our pets are in foster homes and can be seen by appointment only after the application has been submitted and approved.

More about this rescue

Closer to Home Animal Advocates (CTHAA) is a group of caring individuals who work to find forever homes for Siberian Huskies and Norwegian Elkhounds. We are dedicated to placing dogs that have been abandoned, neglected, or whose present homes cannot keep them any longer. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, including rabies, heartworm tested, and on heartworm preventative medication. CTHAA strives to find the best match between the dog and the new forever home. Our goal is to place each dog into a permanent home where it will become a loved and cared for member of the household. All of our dogs are housed in foster homes.
