Señor Inks was born outside to a community cat in April. He had no human contact for the first 7 weeks of his life. He was very scared when we first brought him in. He has become very sweet, loving and playful. He will need a patient and caring adopter who can continue to work with socializing him once adopted.
PERSONALITY:
Señor Inks was very scared when we first got him indoors. He came around very quickly though and was purring on the second day of being interacted with. He loves to get pet and will stick his little booty in the air for scritchins. He usually plops over on his side when his foster mom starts petting him. He is very playful. He has come a long way but will need someone to continue to work with him to ensure that he adjusts well.
LIKES/DISLIKES/OTHER ANIMALS/CHILDREN:
Señor Inks loves to get pet. He purrs the minute his foster mom starts interacting with him. While he does like to be held, he is easily distracted and wants to go check out the happenings during lap pettings time. He is very active and plays with his toys with lots of energy. He likes to bunny kick stuffed toys and chase his newly acquired spring. He also likes to play with the wand toy. He can be found pouncing on his brother under the blankies during playtime. He gets along great with other cats. He hasn’t been around dogs or children. He would do ok with a cat friendly, gentle pup. He would do ok with older, calmer children. He won’t do well in a chaotic, crazy household as he will try and hide.
SOCIALIZING TIPS:
When he goes to a new home, he will likely be very scared and lose some progress he’s had since being in foster care. However, he will come around if he is worked with. Here are the things that will help him come around more quickly:
1. Keep in a small area (bathroom or bedroom where he can’t hide). He will hide if given the chance. I have a 45” playpen with zipper top and bottom that can be borrowed for a refundable deposit (just to make sure I get it back!)
2. Sit with him at every feeding. Hold, pet, feed from hand…get him to associate humans with food! He is very food motivated and LOVES churus!
3. Once he’s settled, start to play with him to get him building confidence.
4. Keep him separated from other kitties for awhile until he bonds to humans. If he has another kitty to become pals with , he won’t feel the need for human interaction. He does love other cats though, and would definitely do well with a friend after he gets settled in!
***Please remember; our cats have a low thirst drive and NEED the moisture in the wet food. Since wet food is 75% moisture and dry food only 10%, that is huge for our felines. Cats need wet food daily to avoid a lot of dehydration related medical problems long term like urinary tract issues which can lead to litter box avoidance and kidney disease or obesity issues linked to diabetes..
VETTING: Señor Inks has had his first FVRCP vaccine. He is scheduled for his neuter, rabies and combo test on August 11 in TItusville. He will need to come back for that (covered with adoption fee) or the adopter can fix on own (not covered in adoption fee).
He has 30 day flea treatment on and has been dewormed.
