Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
This handsome boy seems to be smiling in some of the photos. That shows he's got a sweet disposition. He is a one year-old 69 pound appenzeller sennehund (perfect match)/Mountain dog mix that came to the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 7/22 as a stray. He is very timid and unsure of the shelter environment. He spent a lot of time going behind the bench for security. In order to get a video I needed to take him into a room so he wouldn't be hiding. Information on his breed says his breed is very active and self-assured. I'm sure in a loving home, he would blossom. When I took him out in the yard, he casually strolled around. He doesn't seem to know the sit command and was not interested in treats. That may be because he's not comfortable. I'm not sure he's had much socialization. However, he does walk very well on a leash and seems to be housebroken. He he was so shy he was not interested in meeting other dogs. He is extremely sweet and calm. With TLC he will thrive. As big as he is, he still wants to be in the loving comfort of your home. He doesn't have the disposition to be an outside dog. He would love to lay at your feet while you're watching TV.
