Grit is a big, friendly girl who is looking for a family with a big, friendly heart to take her in. She will soon make herself at home - she's convinced she is a lap dog but she'll settle for napping by your side. She loves her walks and is polite on a leash, and loves to say hi to people along the way. Grit is an energetic gal who would like to have lots of access to the outdoors for running and playing. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County.
