My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

DOB 2/18/22 - Sam is a very sweet cat but can be a challenge. Sam loves to be pet and sometimes sit in a lap. He enjoys playing with wand toys and laser lights when he's in the mood. Sam is very sensitive to scents and can become aggressive if he smells something that upsets him. Some smells that he has reacted to are unneutered male cats and scared cat smell. He needs to go to an adult only home with experienced cat people who will give him a slow introduction to the house. Sam is currently on daily medication (put in his food) to help him stay calm and his behavior has been very stable since he has felt safe and happy in his foster home. Sam gets along well with female cats and his ideal home would have a friendly female cat that can show him the ropes. He has made cat friends easily in his foster home. Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The first step in the adoption process is coming into the shelter to meet a cat. Once you have found the perfect match for you, you will fill out a one page adoption application. We will then do any necessary vet checks to make sure that if you have any existing pets that they are up to date on all vaccines and have been seen for regular vet care. Once you have been approved one of our volunteers will contact you to set up the adoption. The last step is one of our volunteers will bring the new member of your family to you and you will sign an adoption contract. We do not spay/neuter or give rabies to kittens under six months of age. If you adopt a kitten under six months you will be required to spay/neuter and give them their rabies at your expense. This will be in the adoption agreement. The adoption fees are $90 for one cat/kitten and $140 for two. All cats have been tested for feline leukemia and FIV, had their distemper booster, rabies if over six months, had fecal testing done and been de-wormed, they have been flea bathed, and have been spayed or neutered if over six months of age.

Second Hand Purrs is dedicated to the betterment of misplaced felines in the greater Milwaukee area. We will strive to give feline owners and concerned citizens every option above and beyond abandonment and euthanasia.
We are progressing towards this mission by providing an additional resource to the community for unwanted felines. By providing shelter to animals, education regarding spaying and neutering and a genuine concern for helping animals and people alike, we will reach out to the community to make it a better place for everybody.
