I named this precious girl Gem because in my opinion, she is a real jewel! She is listed as a Lab/retriever mix weighing about 35 pounds and about 1 1/2 years old. She is spayed. And oh, those adorable folded-over ears! Gem was brought to the Mesquite Animal Shelter because she was not being adequately cared for by her owners. With nutritious food and water as well as shelter, she has filled out and looks healthier. She is friendly and has such a pleasant personality. She takes treats and will sit for them, taking them politely. Gem has a moderate activity level and seems to thoroughly enjoy getting a break from her kennel and from the noise of the other dogs, scouting out all the interesting scents in the yard and stretching her legs. She did her business in the yard. She walks well on a leash. She was more than happy for me to pet her and show her some loving attention. Gem is hoping to find a better home next time around with people who will cherish and love her, giving her what she needs to have a happy and healthy life and giving her plenty of TLC, exercise, playtime and enrichment. And it goes without saying that she wants to live inside with her people in order to be an integral part of the family circle. Will you please help her to realize that dream home?
