My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I'm Abby. I'm a tripod! People tend to love tripods and everyone who meets me loves me. I'm a purring machine, very affectionate. I spent half my life with a nice human who, sadly for both of us, had to go into assisted living. We were both quite sad to leave each other.

You should know I presently have very specific needs that require a serious time commitment for a few months. I am available as a short-term foster only if you have the true intention of adopting me. Due to being a tripod, I would do best in a home without stairs or at least not too many stairs. Additionally, I will need to be transported to weekly physical therapy appointments at the shelter. These appointments will be determined by the availability of the physical therapist and cannot be missed. My foster/adopter should be at the appointments with me so she/he can take part in my rehab and progress.

More about this shelter

The MaxFund is a non-profit organization that was established in May of 1988 to provide medical care for injured pets with no known owners, and to seek out new homes for these animals once they have recovered. The MaxFund is a no-kill dog and cat shelter. MaxFund assists hundreds of people and animals each year by trying to make the correct match between owner and pet. MaxFund adopts our animals to Colorado residents only.

The MaxFund is a TRUE no-kill shelter. There is no pre-sorting of animals into "adoptable" and "non-adoptable" categories, discarding the so-called "unadoptable." The MaxFund takes every animal it has the space for. EVERY animal is kept until its owner is found or it is placed in a new adoptive home.
