My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I am convinced that Cora was born for the adventure-buddy-life! For one, she loads into the car all on her own, making the leap into the back seat of an SUV with ease, if she did happen to need a little help it wouldn’t be any trouble- she is a petite girl at 40 lbs, and is also great in the car! She loves exploring and is happy to keep your pace whether you are walking, running or looking to take a nice hike. She also loves water and knows how to swim so a day at the pool, beach or lake would be right up her alley.

Cora is fortunate that while she waits for her forever family she is being fostered in a loving home. This is giving he an amazing head start of learning all about being a house dog. Her foster family has shared that she is just a joy to have around and has been a wonderful addition to the home. She is getting along well with their other dogs, learning the routines quickly, and picking up new skills with ease. From house training to a few tricks- Cora has been eager to please. She is both house and crate trained, though she can still whine a bit in her crate when first put in. She quiets quickly so no worries and when given free roaming privileges she is great- no accidents, chewing or whining. She’s also known for her love of perching on chairs or the top of her kennel to take a look out the window, occasionally falling asleep right on top of her crate.

Cora loves her people and wants to climb into your lap for love and smother you with kisses if you’ll let her. But, she isn’t the type to kiss on the first date, she will need to get to know you a bit before she fully opens up. Once she does though, you are in and there is no turning back.

Cora's love extends to low key and low energy dogs too. Younger and more excited dogs are a little much for her and would not be a great fit in her ideal home. If she could be an only dog she would LOVE it! She does great making friends on walks and playgroups so she is a great fit for families who love to take walks and visit parks, mountains and water where she can roam explore and make friends with two or more legs.

Cora is likely a pit-bull mix and is estimated to be around 2 years old. In rescue, breed and age are educated observations but naturally not a guarantee. Perfectly out of the puppy years, she is mature and has mastered the are of “right-place” energy. On an adventure she is going to be up for hiking the whole trail and taking a dip in the creek. If is a more chill day then a Sunday night movies session is her thing. She knows that is chill, snuggle time and she loves it. They are different but both so important! Her ideal home would include a yard for romping around but not a deal breaker as long as she will have plenty of opportunities to walk and explore outside. Cora has not been around younger kids but is great with older kids who can handle her butt wiggle and are sure-footed. In addition, we would consider Cora to be cat-tolerant. When introduced to our house cat she was perfectly respectful and observed him, sniffed him without being pushy, and then moved on.

If you’re looking for a loving, active, adorable, adventurous dog, Cora is your girl! She’s ready to join you on all your outdoor adventures and help fight off the Sunday scares with snuggles and kisses. She is going to bring joy and excitement to your life and help create so many wonderful memories!

Why adopt from Three Little Pitties?

The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone. Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog you’ve found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it!

Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog’s needs. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be!

It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks:

• 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion (must register within 24 hours of first vet appt.)
• A free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus low pricing for future sessions (approx $25 weekly for an 8 week course of one session per week)
• One free bonus toy in every BarkBox when signing up for their Super Chewer subscription plan
• 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a PNW based, organic fresh dog food loaf meal subscription plan
• Coupons for a fun visit to Petco
• Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup!

We celebrated our 5 year anniversary this year! Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 12,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be saved in that spot. Together, we can be heroes.
