Louie My name is Louie, and I`ve had a bit of a rough start. My first owner abandoned me, and I`ve had a few homes since then. My most recent owner surrendered me to the HSHC because I was unwanted. As a result, I`m afraid of nearly everything. I`m a neutered 7-year-old black and white male cat who is litterbox-trained. I arrived at the HSHC in late June and spent some time in the roaming room. The interviewer lady could never get a good conversation out of me because I never came out of my Kasa to visit people. Consequently, I was sent to a foster home to build my confidence and social skills. My foster mom is very proud of the improvements I`ve made. I have gotten along so well with the other cats in the home, and they have helped me to learn how to be a pet kitty! But the dog in the house terrifies me! I`m so glad I don`t have to spend any time with him. Yes, I am still a genuine scaredy-cat, as loud noises, sudden movements, and a hectic environment can send me running! But I am gradually gaining courage, and the family no longer frightens me. I adore being petted, lying beside my people, and receiving their loving attention. My foster mom was surprised to learn that I am a talkative fellow and enjoy expressing my opinion on nearly everything. My greatest hope is to find a forever family who will support my increasing confidence and give me plenty of time to settle into a routine. I promise to be as brave as I can possibly be! 10-8-24

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.
This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
