If you’re looking for a super-sweet, take anywhere, four-legged partner in crime - Conan is your guy!
Have you ever seen a dog that always carries a stuffed animal in his mouth? Well, that’s Conan! Whether he’s laying down, hanging out outside or going for a walk, you can always find Conan with his stuffie. It’s his safety blanket, his pacifier, and his all-time favorite thing. Big, small, squeaky, fluffy – it really doesn’t matter as long as he can carry it around or snuggle up to it.
That’s honestly Conan’s personality in general. He’s beyond his early puppy years, and enjoys the simpler, calmer side of life with a little play in between. A relaxed walk through the park or neighborhood stopping to sniff all the smells and a short game of fetch or tug in the backyard, followed by a good couch snuggle is his ideal day. He also enjoys lounging outside, basking in the sun and tanning his beautifully vibrant red coat.
When at home, he prefers to be around you, no matter what you’re up to – he sits nicely and waits while his food is being prepped for him and will hang out next to your foot while you’re cooking your own meal. He just wants to be close and to know you’re there – he’ll even follow you into the bathroom(he insists that keeping you company in the bathroom is the least he can do since you take him out to do his business).
Conan does well by himself too and hangs out in his kennel area when his foster mom is at work or out running errands. He does cry a little at first, but settles down quickly, especially when he’s got a stuffie to sooth him. Mostly, he just naps though. This is also where he spends the night, and, in the morning, waits patiently to be let out and get his breakfast. He is fully potty trained and when he’s done doing his thing, he sits by the patio door to let you know he’s done and ready for his “very good boy” treat.
Conan is fostered with another dog, an American Bully female who is very selective about her housemates, but Conan has managed to win her over with his sweet and easygoingpersonality. He’s very respectful of her quirks and gives her space when she needs it. On walks, Conan is interested in other dogs, but does not bark at or antagonize them. Conan would do wonderfully in a house with a canine roommate but would also enjoy soaking up all your attention.
He hasn’t lived with children that we know of but, with his calm demeanor, he would likely integrate well into any household with kids, as long as they know to put their stuffed animals away or are willing to share them with him. He is very interested in the bunnies and squirrels he meets on walks, so he may be prone to chasing a cat, but he can be cat tested is needed.
Conan is wicked smart and learns your routines, your habits and your preferences extremely fast. He’s very inquisitive and likes to observe before he engages. He rarely barks, but when he does, he’s got this soft, raspy bark that is more comical than scary. Conan strikes me as the kind of dog you can take anywhere with you, a true companion in life. He will make a wonderful dog for whoever adopts him and loves him forever.
