Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Roscoe is a goofy, cuddly 1 year old 55lb Shiba Inu/German Shepherd mix. He was found on the streets of Houston as a young puppy with his brother, Tobi, who has since been adopted. Life on the streets was evidently very rough on him, because he came to us extremely scared and undersocialized. When we first got him and his brother, they wouldn't even come up to us but now Roscoe happily comes to beg for our attention!
Roscoe has come so far in his progress of becoming more confident, and now has no problem coming to ask for pets. He gets very excited to see familiar people and receive affection from them, even to the point where he quite literally jumps for joy! He is still shy around new people, but he has made steady improvements and now warms up pretty quickly. Roscoe loves being around other dogs and looks up to dogs who are older than him for approval and comfort. He particularly loves one of our other adoptable dogs, Salt, and acts like an excitable little puppy around him which is the cutest thing ever!
Roscoe really shows his cuddly side when he warms up to you. He's quite the homebody and couch dweller and is content to just lay around with you all day long. He loves going on short walks and is good on a leash. Roscoe does seem to have some anxiety in the crate when left alone for long periods of time, but this is lessened when he has canine friends to accompany him. He does have some trouble holding his bladder when he's kenneled for longer than 2-3 hours due to a previous lifestyle he had with a former foster, so his potty training is a work in progress. For that reason and just for his enjoyment, we think that he would do best with someone who is able to be home with him more often than not.
Roscoe would thrive best in a semi-active home with at least one other dog. Since he feels most secure and happy when he's around other dogs, this is a requirement to be considered for potential homes. (You could even adopt his friend, Salt, along with him!) Roscoe does well with older kids and would make a great playmate and family companion. He is relatively low energy and prefers to just cuddle over playing!
Roscoe is located in Houston TX but can be transported to most US states for adoption.
