My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ADOPTION PROTOCOL: No Meet & Greets without the following…We require an application which must be processed and approved in a timely manner (we can text or email the Application Link).  We now require  a  Vet Reference, and may require a home visit as well. The above is required prior to Adoption. Now all adoptions will only be for Local Residents.  We reserve the right to refuse any adopter for any reason.

Tulip (front declawed) was a happy lap kitty until she was sadly taken to a shelter when her owner was transferred into assisted living. She spent almost 2 months in the shelter when we discovered her. She is 10 years old according to the shelter we pulled her from, but her teeth look good, may be younger. She has now been exposed to other cats here, and has adjusted semi-well to a multi-cat household, but she would prefer to be in a one cat household. She is at times a bit bossy with another cat. She would be very content to have a sunny window to snooze in front of with a cat tree, and a quiet human to share her space, but she is equally happy in a cozy little cat bed most anywhere, and on occasion likes to snuggle in my lap for a good pet session. She loves some canned food daily, which may be supplemented with a good quality kibble.
Spayed, front declawed, shots, microchipped. She is sweet & mellow, but she is also independent. She may come off as indifferent to a new visitor. If she feels threatened (chased or grabbed), she can become aggressive, likely because she has no front claws, so no small children or dogs. Her adoption fee is $100 (if needed, $135 with delivery in town), application required.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The first step in our adoption process is the completion of our adoption application, and we do not charge an application fee. We charge an appropriate adoption fee to cover most of the costs associated with vetting each animal. We have a 2 page contract to be signed at time of adoption, and we offer a 14 to 30 day money back return policy, dependent upon age of the animal.

More about this rescue

Adopt-a-Kitty is an all species/breed caregiver to lost, homeless, and unwanted pets that are in need, locally and in nearby surrounding areas, concentrating mainly on cats and kittens. We accept “special needs” pets as well, when in need. In the last 5 years, we have placed hundreds of animals, a good portion pulled from high kill shelters. Our mission in life is to love, care for, and PLACE animals who haven't been given a chance. All pets are tested, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, etc. prior to adoption. We provide a safe place for our rescued pets to stay until a forever family can be found. Because we are a grassroots organization, we rely on help from the public, adoption donations, and money from our own pockets.
