Kimmie (AL) is a female Labrador Retriever/Hound mix estimated to be 5 years old at the time of intake in early January 2024. Kimmie is up to date on core vaccines and is microchipped. She will be spayed prior to placement in her forever home unless there is a medical reason why it has not yet been completed (in which case RDR NYC will work with the adopter to ensure this is done at the appropriate time). Kimmie is good with people, low energy dogs and cats. Kimmie was emaciated and suffering from a skin infection when she was brought into rescue. She also re-injured an old leg injury which now required amputation of her right front leg. She has received all the medical care she requires, her skin is slowly healing and she is recovering as a tripod. Kimmie is the sweetest, most gentle girl. She is always by her foster's side or sprawled across her foster's lap. She is a lap dog! When outside, she walks right past the cat and 11 hens. Kimmie would do best in a quiet environment with someone who either works from home or is retired. We believe she will do very well with a low energy dog sibling as well. Kimmie loves to give and receive love. If you aren’t giving her enough attention she will gently paw at you and try to pick up your hand in her mouth. Kimmie is a bit timid with new people but will arm up with slow introductions… and cheese! Kimmie is fully potty and leash trained. She is a companion dog and will bond to her person. Kimmie's foster is working to help Kimmie understand that she's okay when she is left home alone. If you are looking for an unbreakable bond and your soul dog, Kimmie is your perfect girl. Please apply online to adopt Kimmie (AL) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org. Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. We can, however, provide transport support for pets in foster at a considerable distance from the adopter.
