My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bentley was with the same family for 8 years and had 2 small dogs as daily companions.  He was surrendered to Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue when the owner's daughter exhibitied worsening allergy symptoms.

Bentley is a very loyal dog and loves to cuddle up on the couch with his human friends.

He is gentle, and loves to be affectionate.

He has displayed some mild separation anxiety in his foster home when left alone for longer than 2-3 hours.  This is understandable as he lost the only family he had ever known as well as his two furry buddies who kept him company during the day.

Even though he is 8 years old, you'd never know.  He still gets excited to play with his stuffies and squeaky ball, and apart from some achy joints he's a healthy boy!

He enjoys his walks and loves meeting new people, and likes being around other dogs.

He is a sweet and gentle boy who is looking for a family to spoil and love on him during his Golden Years.  He would do better in a home where someone is home more often than not and/or has a resident dog that can keep him company when his people are out.  If you think that could be with you, check out Bentley's blog to learn more about him:

PLEASE NOTE: While this Lab may not be available for adoption by the time you complete the adoption process, other great Labs are always finding their way into our Rescue. (Note: Sometimes a foster home falls in love and adopts their foster dog so the dog doesn’t make it to “Available Now”).
If you are interested in adopting this Lab or any other Lab from our Rescue, please visit our Website, brooklinelabrescue.org, for more information on our adoption process. If you need additional information about the adoption process or whether you are in our coverage area, please send an e-mail to our Rescue at info@brooklinelabrescue.org.
Even if you are not ready to adopt, you can still help us help our Labs!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All applicants complete an application and have a home visit before being approved to adopt. Once approved to adopt, they wait to find the right dog for their family. They are required to sign a pre-adoptive agreement and keep the dog they are matched with for a 3 week pre-adoptive period. If all goes well during that period, they sign an adoption agreement and adopt the dog. The fees vary depending on the age and altered status of the dog. We do require all dogs to be altered if they are not already and require obedience training as well

Go meet their pets

Some , but not all, of our dogs are present at events we attend throughout our coverage areas in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. For the most part, adopters do not meet a dog until they are introduced to the dog they are matched with. This introduction takes place after they have a home visit and are matched with one of our dogs and the meeting is held at a neutral location half way between the dog and the applicant.

More about this rescue

We are a labrador retriever rescue that places labs and lab mixes in new homes. We do this because we love the lab breed and want to be sure dogs in need of a new home find the right home for them.
