My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Thor is a 6-year-old sweetheart who has a heart as big as his size. Despite his imposing stature, he's a gentle giant with a calm, laid-back demeanor that makes him an absolute joy to be around. Thor is a well-behaved, potty-trained dog who's the perfect blend of playful and affectionate. His favorite pastime? Playing fetch, especially with his beloved tennis ball. But don't let his love for toys fool you-once playtime is over, Thor is all about the cuddles. He'll happily curl up beside you, often placing his paw gently on you as if to say, "I love you too.

What makes Thor so special is his ability to read the room. He knows when it's time for fun and when it's time to relax. If you're up for a game of fetch, Thor is all in. But when you're ready to wind down, he's content to simply be by your side, sharing in those peaceful moments. His joyful spirit is matched by a big, wagging tail and a face full of expression that will melt your heart.

Thor is an easygoing companion who bonds instantly with everyone he meets. He thrives on human interaction and will form a close, loving connection with his person. While he loves people, he prefers to be the only pet in the household. Thor enjoys the attention being focused on him and isn't a fan of sharing his toys with other dogs or cats.

This sweet boy has a low-maintenance nature and adapts easily to new environments. He's as happy in a calm, quiet home as he is playing in the yard. Thor is the kind of dog who will steal your heart and make every day a little brighter with his affection and charm.

If you're looking for a loving, loyal companion who will always be by your side, Thor is the perfect match. He's ready to share his love and be your best friend for life. Come meet him today, and let him show you just how special he is.

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of North Central Florida was created in 2018 when the leadership of the Alachua County Humane Society, Gainesville Pet Rescue, and Helping Hands Pet Rescue decided to permanently join forces. By becoming the Humane Society of North Central Florida, our organizations were able to effectively streamline services for pets and pet owners, eliminate any duplication of services, maximize our community’s resources, and improve the life-saving abilities of the entire region.

Our founding organizations have been dedicated to serving pets in Alachua County for more than 40 years. The Humane Society of North Central Florida is a limited intake, no-kill animal rescue shelter. The animals in our facility are transferred from open-intake and/or managed admission municipal shelters across North Central Florida. The Humane Society of North Central Florida is an independent, local 501(c)(3) organization. As such, we do not receive funding from federal agencies, nor are we affiliated with any other state or national organizations such as the Humane Society of the United States or the ASPCA.
