Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
12-year-old Shot Put was rescued from the streets of Tijuana and then lived in a foster home before becoming a Frosted Face on July 18th. He is such an easy-going sweetheart! He is so friendly, loves attention, and gives kisses. He does well in a play group with several of our other dogs. Shot Put enjoys going on our weekly FFF hikes, and he is described by volunteers as a perfect hiking buddy. He is great on leash and is unbothered by other dogs around him.
Shot Put is doing very well in his Fling home, and his Fling Family is graciously extending their time together through the holidays with the hope of finding his Family before Christmas.
His Fling mom reports:
"I have a dog who is a reactive/anxious dog, and Shot Put is completely respectful towards him! He loves living in a home and is thriving having a routine. He sleeps a lot, but loves his walks and his meals.
Shot Put likes knowing where hooman is in the house, but as he is settling in and getting more comfortable, he's keeping tabs on me less.
Here is what else I've learned about this amazing boy:
* He is non-reactive to dogs, sounds and small animals (no prey drive)
* He is shy and maybe doesn't show well when you first meet him, but he is quick to bond with his human and very trusting, especially considering what he's been through.
* He is good meeting dogs on walks.
* He can definitely live in a home with other dogs, as he's very dog friendly. I think he would also be ok as an only dog because he really loves his person.
* I am able to leave him home alone either free in a room or in a crate. He might whine for a few minutes, but then he quickly falls asleep.
- He will eat anything! But not first thing in the morning, he needs some time to wake up before breakfast.
- He is completely potty trained
- He sleeps through the night, curled up in a little ball in his bed.
- He wakes up when me and my dogs wake up, but he's not really a morning person, so he stays in bed for about an hour before getting up.
- He has anxiety in the car. This may be because of all the change he's gone through in the last few months and I think he could work through it.
- He is learning to go out to dog-friendly restaurants for dinner.
- He barks at people outside, which I don't mind because it doesn't go on for too long, and he stops as soon as you ask him.
Shot Put is thriving in a home, and I'd love for his next transition to be to his forever family!"
