Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
*We are now ready to start accepting a LIMITED number of applications for Rupert! He is ready to find his forever home!* EMAIL: ADOPT@SAVINGPAWSCT.ORG If you are not familiar with Rupert's story, please go to our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/savingpaws1 and scroll to our early June posts. Rupert originally came to our shelter after he was "found" completely emaciated, on the verge of death. He had an obstruction that required emergency surgery. He has now recovered and he is looking for the right home to take care of him. Please Read all of our qualifications for Rupert before emailing us for an application.
PLEASE READ:
Rupert is now staying at our shelter, and we have been able to evaluate him better here. He is a very outgoing and playful dog who loves people! He is about 4-5 months old and we believe he is some type of Old English Sheepdog mix. He will require regular puppy/obedience training. He wants to please and he accepts boundaries well, but they must be enforced for him to learn.
Rupert is very friendly with other dogs, but he is a rough and tumble player and he would do best with a passive, easy going dog. If there are other dogs in the home, they must be fed and be given treats separately. Rupert is highly food motivated, due to being starved for so much of his short life, but he has not shown any food or toy aggression towards any of us here. He is your typical jumpy, energetic, mouthy puppy who is corrected easily. We think he will be fine is a home with children 10 years old and older who have larger dog experience.
Rupert is going to grow. We expect him to weigh approximately 60-80lbs when full grown. He IS NOT a poodle/doodle type dog and he does shed a bit. His new family must expect to pay for regular, professional grooming. Rupert will be ready to be neutered in about 6 weeks. His new owners must be able to bring back to our vet office for the surgery.
If you are serious about wanting to adopt Rupert, and you meet these qualifications, PLEASE EMAIL us at Adopt@savingpawsct.org for an application. Applications must be approved before making an appointment to meet Rupert. We do require all members of the household, including children and dogs, come meet our animals before finalizing an adoption.
Please do not submit an application if:
❌️ You have a reactive dog or a dog that does not like to be jumped on
❌️ You have children under 10 years old in your home
❌️ You want a non shedding type dog
❌️ You want a small breed/a dog under 50 lbs
❌️ You do not want a dog that needs regular, professional grooming
❌️ You do not want to housetrain a puppy
If you are interested in adopting Rupert, Please Email us at Adopt@savingpawsct.org for an application! His adoption fee is $75.00.

You must be 21 years of age to adopt with valid ID. There is a short application for adoption, however if you do not own your home, or you own a condo, we must speak with your landlord or housing association giving permission to dogs/cats. Bully breed specific permission is required if you rent or own a condo. If you own your home, proof of home ownership is required. If there are other pets in the home they must be licensed (if a dog) and up to date on vaccinations. If there is another dog in the home a dog interaction must be done at the shelter before adoption, to ensure the safety and well being of all pets. All children in the home need to be declared and brought down to meet the animal.
Applications must be submitted and approved BEFORE a meet and greet can be scheduled to meet an animal.
An approved application does not guarantee an adoption. We do not hold animals for meet and greet appointments.
