My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Indie, named for her life-changing rescue over Independence Day weekend, made incredible progress in reverting back to being a loving pet. Known in her neighborhood for living under an abandoned trailer with her puppies, Indie survived on her own for two years before PACA volunteers rescued her and her pups. Now, this smart and loyal girl is ready to embrace her new life with a forever family.

It’s believed that Indie once belonged to the man who owned the trailer, but after his passing, she was left to fend for herself. It is clear Indie was previously a beloved pet. She LOVES her humans and she’s especially in tune with the sound of a bone being unwrapped! Indie loves going for leash walks, playing fetch, and spending time with other dogs. Indie loves to bring her ball back and flop on the ground for belly rubs before chasing it again. She’s also curious about what her humans are up to, often following her foster mom around the house, eager to help out.

Any dog that can survive for two years alone is truly smart, and Indie is no exception. She’s quickly learning commands like “come” and “sit” and is eager to please. She is "near perfect," according to her foster mom.

Indie is a 2-3-year-old, 40 lb mix of cattle dog, Aussie, and other herding breeds, making her both unique and adorable with her wiry coat and bobbed tail. She’s ready for a family that will appreciate her intelligence, loyalty, and love. NO CATS.

More about this rescue

People’s Anti Cruelty Association / Albuquerque Animal Rescue (PACA), a No-Kill rescue group, was founded in 1973. Our main mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehouse homeless dogs and cats. PACA has no shelter facility and relies on an organized network of foster parents who graciously take animals into their homes and hearts until permanent homes are found.
