My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This handsome friendly boy is Clancy. He was a pet who was assumed to have been dumped at our local trailer park and in order to survive had to become part of a colony. He ended up staying at the shelter after he was trapped for TNR because people thought he might be a friendly fella.  Unfortunately, it was seeming increasingly unlikely that was the case, so we tried to release him. Well, Clancy stuck his head out of the carrier, sat by the door, and cried for about five minutes while the releasing volunteer waited for him to make up his mind and take off.  Finally, she told him he could get back in or get out. Clancy got back in. He backed up into the carrier and refused to budge. He didn’t want to return to his outdoor lifestyle without regular food, soft beds, and all the advantages of being a kept cat! Within a few days of being back at the shelter with treats and catnip, Clancy had made a complete transformation from near feral, hiding in his litter box and trying to escape to affectionate, cuddly, and desperate for human attention! Clancy would like a home with all the benefits of indoor cat life. He likes hammocks, toys, treats, and catnip. He doesn’t like big changes, but attention and affection make them easier. Clancy is committed to being a pet. Clancy is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. He is FIV positive, but he defaults to flight over fight when upset, so this is not a significant concern for a multi-cat household. As always, our cat adoptions are free will donation for approved applicants.  ****The first step in the adoption process is to complete the application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org****

More about this shelter

The ECAS is an all volunteer, no kill shelter. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome pets in need due to neglect, abandonment, abuse or from simply not being wanted! We started in 2010 due to a need in our community. We are currently a foster based organization and we are currently building our new shelter facility. We work hand in hand with other rescue and shelters in the area to help out when and where we are needed.
