Toby is a sweet cuddlebug of an eight-year-old, 10-pound, long-haired dachshund/chihuahua mix looking for a loving guardian.
Toby is happiest next to his human, or on their lap. He’s looking for folks who are home more than not as he’ll bark incessantly when you leave. So, he’s not an apartment or condo kind of dog.
If he’s home with you, Toby is relaxed and loves to nap the day away, with short periods of play and walks. He’s fine with dog and cat friends.
Although he only has a few teeth left, he is food-motivated, and loves his treats, although he’s shown little interest in toys besides a favorite Squishmallows.
Toby is crate-trained, and sometimes wears a pee-pad in the house for occasional leakage.
Toby has had bouts of pancreatitis, so he eats prescription ZD food mixed with fresh foods.
While he barks at other dogs at first, he usually gets along with them after humping them a time or two. Toby’s good in the car, and good on leashed walks.
Toby is otherwise healthy, neutered, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, and microchipped.
His adoption fee of $175 benefits the Friends of Petraits Rescue. To meet and possibly adopt him, please fill out an adoption application at https://friendsofpetraits.com/dog-adoption-application/ and follow up to meet him by e-mailing friendsofpetraits@gmail.com
He is being fostered in Chicago’s Ukrainian Village neighborhood.
